ASHLAND, Ore– On Sunday, the new owners of Billings Ranch, Thaddeus Gala and Rebecca Blust, announced the winners of the Medella Bison Ranch Contest. First place won $2,500, second place won $1,000 and third place won $500.

Right around 1 p.m., the owners started a live video over Facebook where the pair went over some of the ideas that they had received on what they should do with the ranch. According to the owners, $4,900 in prize money was given out to some of the contestants that submitted their ideas.

In third place, Gala and Blust announced that the idea was to create a global agricultural RND center. In second place, the idea was to create a theme park on the ranch that celebrates different cities across Oregon. This would be done by placing tiny villages all across the ranch in which would be different cities from across the state.

In first place, the winning idea was to put in a bison rehabilitation park on the ranch. Dr. Gala also stated that along with the rehabilitation park, that there could be the possibility of adding a hospitality center, bison bunk houses and even bison motel units.

Now although these ideas were the winning choices, Dr. Gala did state, right before announcing the winners, “Just because these are winners doesn’t mean that we are doing it, we just love these ideas.”
