Nurses by Day, Badass Crimefighters by Night

September 28, 2022. ASHLAND, OREGON. The SOU Theatre program presents Hearts Like Fists written by Adam Szymkowicz – and directed by David McCandless. This fun-filled spoof is a comic-book rom-com noir at its finest! The show opens Thursday, October 6th at 8:00pm in the SOU Black Box Theatre. Seating is limited, and performances will run October 6-16 with two matinees on October 15th and 16th at 2:00pm.

Hearts Like Fists features a trio of nurses who double as badass crime-fighters at night. So far, they have managed to save The City from such noxious villains as Volcano Moe and Little Orphan Drillnose. But now they face a new and more formidable foe: Dr. X, a homicidal mad scientist who, deranged by unrequited love, targets happily sleeping couples. Dr. X’s lab-coated counterpart is Peter, who has had his heart broken so many times that he devotes himself to devising an unbreakable artificial one. Into his life walks Lisa, a clueless heart-breaker who is paid to stay away from construction sites, where distracted oglers have been known to fall to their deaths. Can the lovelorn Peter find happiness with a femme fatale? Can the Crimefighters stop Dr. X –perhaps by recruiting the surprisingly pugilistic Lisa? Sorry, no spoilers. You’ll have to see the surprise ending yourself!

The cast of Hearts Like Fists includes Devin Bahr, Chloe Boyan, Jodie Chapin, Kyler Deanda, Aleeyah Enriquez, Keely Galbreath, Forest Gilpin, Aidan Jenkins, Siena Schofield, and Raven Vujevich. The design team consists of Olivia Wenner (set), Shae Mercer (lighting), Nat Bjorge (costumes), and Sarah Lane (sound).
