Murder Suspect Sought in and around Grants Pass 7/4

Grants Pass, Ore. – On July 4, 2023, at approximately 5:45 AM, the Grants Pass Police Department received 911 reports of a male being struck by a vehicle in the 2900 block of Highland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect driver had fled the scene on foot after striking and mortally wounding the victim. The 18-year-old male victim was found deceased at the scene despite emergency efforts.
Grants Pass Police detectives, along with detectives from the Oregon State Police and Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene. The subsequent investigation determined that the incident occurred during a disturbance, and the suspect had intentionally struck the victim with the car. Police officers and K-9 units from the Grants Pass Police Department, assisted by the Oregon State Police, BLM and US Forest Service Law Enforcement Rangers, and the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, spent hours searching for the suspect in the wooded hills in the Northwest portion of Grants Pass. The suspect was not located.
The Grants Pass Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate Brennon Machado, a 23-year-old white male. He is described as six feet tall, weighing around 200 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt, brown Carhartt pants, and brown shoes. Machado is not believed to be armed at this time, but citizens should avoid contact and call 9-1-1 immediately if he is spotted. Brennon Machado is wanted for Murder and considered dangerous.
