Mayor’s Statement Accepting Adam Hanks’ Resignation

This afternoon I received the resignation of Adam Hanks, our City Manager Pro Tem. He has decided to leave his employ with the City of Ashland, effective August 6th.

I appreciate Mr. Hanks and his 30 years of service to the City of Ashland and I wish him the very best. His letter of resignation details his long service beginning as a part time clerk while a freshman at SOU. He has made many friends and performed ably. He will no doubt be missed in City Hall.

Meantime, the search continues for a City Manager and now must go into high gear. I feel confident the Ashland City Council will find the best person for the position which residents tasked it to hire.

I have requested Human Resources seek potential internal candidates for the interim position while continuing our full outside search. Plans are being drafted and council will convene and decide on its best course of action shortly.

Thank you, Julie Akins, Mayor
