“An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” Will Show in Ashland Soon!

What we are lacking is the political will power, and we need your help by the millions to tell Congress to stop worrying about their fossil fuel contributors to their campaigns and worry about their kids and grandchildren.”  — Sen. Bernie Sanders

During his 2016 presidential campaign, Sanders boldly declared that the biggest national security threat the United States faces comes from climate change — and as he indicated in his quote above, it’s going to take a tremendous movement to stop it.

Bernie isn’t alone in this belief. Progressive voices, scientists and activists have been telling us for a long time: We have a problem. A big one. And if we don’t take drastic measures to address climate change, the results will be catastrophic.

Here in America and all over the planet, the environment is being destroyed everyday due to the effects of climate change and pollution, largely due to human activity. And unfortunately, the Trump administration seems intent on doing everything they can to block action to address the drastic effects of this global crisis.

In order to fight back against this administration and protect our planet, we need people to realize the seriousness of climate change and commit to act. That’s why this month, we’re asking our members to pledge to go see Al Gore’s brand new documentary, “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power.”

“An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” is set to have a limited release in the major cities on July 28th and a nationwide release on August 4th. Will you commit to seeing it when it comes out in theaters in Ashland?

Yes! I will go see “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” on the weekend when it opens in Ashland.

No, I can’t make it, but I will chip in $3 or more now to support DFA’s movie nights — and our continuing work to stop climate change.

Since the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump and other Republican leaders have openly denied the existence of climate change which couldn’t be any further from the truth. This is exactly what the donors from the fossil fuel industry want to hear so that they can continue polluting the environment at our expense.

It’s time to mobilize Americans to resist Trump’s attack on our climate. That’s why we are organizing DFA members to watch “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” a follow-up to Gore’s landmark 2006 film that spurred previous climate action. This new film focuses on former Vice President Al Gore’s ongoing calls for global renewable energy investment as well as the progress we’ve made so far and what we still need to do moving forward to save our environment.

This is the second of three films in our “Impeachment Summer” movie night series highlighting how all Americans are being harmed by the Trump administration.

Last month, DFA members in 30 states coordinated to host screenings of the movie “Now Is The Time: Healthcare for Everybody” to learn about the state of our flawed healthcare system — and in August, we will watch “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.”

Watching “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” is an important step in fighting back against this administration and protecting our planet not only for ourselves, but for future generations. This movie is opening in limited release — but if we pack the theaters, we can help get it shown in towns large and small across America.

Will you pledge to go see “An Inconvenient Sequel” on opening night in Ashland?

Yes! I will pledge to go see “An Inconvenient Sequel”on the weekend when it opens in Ashland.

No, I can’t make it, but I’ll pitch in $3 or more to fuel DFA’s work to impeach Donald Trump and stop climate change.

Hope you enjoy the movie!
