CITIZENS’ PETITION TO HOLD UPROOT MEATS AND JACKSON COUNTY PLANNING SERVICES ACCOUNTABLE
In the last several weeks, we have learned of new concerns with regard to the operation of Uproot Meats—concerns that have pushed us to create an online petition to gather the voices of others who share our ongoing alarm.

We’ve learned that Uproot Meats’ claim to be Certified Humane is false; a Sept. ’19 inspection of the property revealed a list of serious non-compliances. We’ve confirmed that their meat is not USDA-inspected. We’ve learned that Jackson County Planning Services is poised to issue several new code violations (once COVID eases). We’re aware that recent heavy rains sent sediment tumbling down Uproot’s denuded slope.
The time is long past that Uproot Meats be held accountable for: its disregard of the environment and the health and safety of the community, its flaunting of honest and transparent business practices, its intimidation of neighbors. It is time, too, that Jackson County officials truly enforce the codes governing land and building use in relation to Uproot Meats.

Thank you SO much!
