Friends of the Animal Shelter Letter to Volunteers

Good evening FOTAS volunteers,

I am writing to follow up on the recent County Commissioner meeting that many FOTAS volunteers and supporters attended on February 1, 2023. Understanding that the County Administrator, Danny Jordan, made official comments at the end of the meeting, we wanted to clarify some of the things which he stated. Attached you will find further information regarding those statements made by the County Administrator.

As previously stated, FOTAS fully supports volunteers and members of the public voicing their concerns to elected officials; the FOTAS board felt it was in the animals’ best interest to not make an official statement at the meeting, in order to maintain a healthy relationship and open communications with the county employees who manage the shelter. FOTAS volunteers clearly have the best interest of the animals at heart, and we thank you for being a voice for the voiceless.

Thanks to all of you for continuing to show up to help the dogs and cats at the shelter and for your support as we navigate these changes put forth by the county. You are truly the heart and soul of everything FOTAS does and we couldn’t do it without you. As always, please reach out to me at any time,

Sky Loos
