News Release from Eagle Point Police Dept.
January 4th, 2024

Officers from the Eagle Point Police Department saw a record year for DUII cases and arrest.  In 2022, there were a total of 27 DUII arrests made by Eagle Point Police.  By the end of 2023, officers made 61 arrests of impaired drivers. While most of these cases were made while officers were on scheduled patrol shifts, thanks to dedicated funding from ODOT, officers also worked on DUII patrol during holidays and high traffic times to help reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roadways.

While 2023 was a record year, the first DUII arrest for 2024 was made just after midnight on January 1st, showing this trend does not seem to be slowing at all.  Officers will continue their focus for this year and are determined to continue to reduce the number of crashes and injuries caused by impaired drivers.  The department will also take part in focused enforcement with our partner agencies in Jackson County during 2024. Much like most Jackson County Law Enforcement agencies, the number of DUII arrests continues to increase and are an area requiring increased focus and enforcement.

Of note about these numbers are that all the arrests were made by a total of 8 officers.  Three of the officers were credited with double digit arrests.  And three of the officers were not with the department for the entire year, showing the dedication made to the safety of the residents of Eagle Point.
