Jackson County Hiring Third Party to Investigate Its Emergency Response to the Almeda Fire
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — KDRV As firefighters, search and rescue teams, and utility crews continue to pick through the rubble of destroyed neighborhoods in Phoenix in Talent, some residents are asking why they did not receive notice to evacuate before the Almeda Fire was already on their doorsteps.
Jackson County Board of Commissioner Rick Dyer provided some clarity on that.
“We are going to be retaining a third party, independent investigative agency. At this point, it looks like it may be the same, uh, parties that, uh, investigated the LA County fires two years ago. And they’re going to just do an exhaustive investigation into the entire response process. What did, and didn’t happen that day. ”
The county plans to use the report and investigation findings to see how the county can improve.
