As you may be aware, the Ashland Chronicle has initiated a new series of straw polls intended to informally gauge the opinions of the citizens regarding crucial governmental issues in Ashland.

The first poll, released just before the weekend, has been receiving a very healthy response.  We urge anyone who had not taken this quick, anonymous poll to do so.  It is only nine questions, and takes only a few short minutes to complete; it is open to all city residents.  We will hold the poll open only until we stop receiving a significant number of responses, so it would be best to participate as soon as you can. You can access the poll here

We will be releasing the complete results of the polls to both our city leaders and the general public.  We will include both the raw voting results, plus all of the optional comments that people have appended to their answers.  It is our hope that the data received will be informative to our decision makers, as well as our neighbors.  Everyone will be able to draw their own conclusions.

In order to make these inquiries as wide ranging and representative as possible, we are inviting everyone to submit their own questions for inclusion in the future straw polls.  Of course we cannot promise that all questions received will be included, but we guarantee that each and every one will receive serious consideration. We welcome all topics relevant to Ashland city government.

Thanks for helping to make our Ashland city government a more inclusive representative democracy.

And on this Memorial Day, thanks to all who have sacrificed so that we might have the opportunity to enjoy our freedoms.
