Update – 12/11/23 at 12:00 PM

As of Monday, 12/11/23 the Medford Police Department has made additional arrests in this case. Over the weekend, Medford Police detectives contacted and arrested two juvenile males who are believed to have been involved in the shooting incident on the morning of December 3rd. Because they are juveniles, the names of those arrested will not be released. Both subjects are 17-years-old and are from Grants Pass. Both were lodged at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Facility on the charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

At this time, detectives are continuing to investigate this case. However, we can release that during this incident, it is believed that a confrontation broke out at the apartment over a past disagreement. During this confrontation, shots were fired by multiple parties. As previously released, 26-year-old Christian Torres and 33-year-old Dontrell Manninen died as a result of their injuries.

This case will be prosecuted by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. There will be no further information released on this case at this time.

Update – 12/04/23 at 4:00pm

The Medford Police Department is releasing the names of the two deceased individuals from the shooting incident that took place in the Charles Point apartment complex on the morning of December 3.

The deceased are:

  1. Torres, Christian Jonathan (26 years old), of White City.
  2. Manninen, Dontrell Xavier (33 years old), of Medford.

Detectives continue to actively work this case in order to provide answers to the families. At this time no arrests have been made. Updates will be provided as they become available. No further information is being released at this time.

Update, 12/03/23 at 6:00PM-

At this time, both victims in this case have died due to their injuries. One was pronounced deceased at the scene and the second passed away at the hospital.  Medford Police and assisting agency detectives continue to work this case in hopes to determine the circumstances surrounding the disturbance leading to the death of these two people.

Detectives are following up on all available leads, including identifying and contacting individuals that were on scene at the time of the disturbance.

We can confirm that this case is not related to the shooting incident that occurred on Friday, December 1 at Buffalo Wild Wings.

There is no further information at this time and additional details will be released as they become available.

Original Release:

On Sunday, December 3rd at about 5:40 AM the Medford Police Department responded to the report of a disturbance with shots fired in the Charles Point apartment complex on Highgate Street in South Medford. Upon arrival officers located two individuals with gunshot wounds in the parking lot near an apartment. Both of these subjects were transported to a local hospital. At this time we can confirm that one of the victims is deceased, and the other is in very serious condition. Names or specifics of the victims will not be released at this time.

Medford Police Dept and other assisting agencies are currently on scene investigating this case and will release additional information as it becomes available.
