Legal counsel has strongly suggested that a petition be gathered asking the Parks Commission to do what they need to do to keep the parking lot for hikers/walkers at Grandview.

That petition with directions will be available soon for you to download from this site.  Put the parks commission meeting on your calendar:  Parks Commission meeting on Monday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers on East Main.

Another citizen speaks out:

We walk often, though the timing for all this has been in a month of heat and smoke where we’ve mostly been working out at the Y, so our presence hasn’t been, well –present as much as usual.  Otherwise we are there going up and over in all kinds of weather; rain, snow and sun.   It’s such a precious park to us; from seeing coyotes to bear scat, rabbit tracks in the snow to the changes in the birds’ songs during the eclipse.  Terrible that this has come up.  Courage to us all in finding a resolution. I’ve seen people with walkers and in wheelchairs on the trail, as well as people with baby strollers. The fact that it is a level walking space from the access parking is terribly important.
